Beijing's Muslims observe first day of Ramadan in China
Muslims in the Chinese capital of Beijing observed the first day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan on Sunday. Footage from a Muslim neighborhood in the capital shows people waiting outside shops selling halal (permissible or lawful by Islam) products, while others dine at a restaurant run by Chinese Muslims, who make up approximately 3 percent (around 40 million) of the total population of 1.4 billion people.
