Funerals held across Turkey for martyrs of Istanbul attack
Funerals have been held in several Turkish provinces for the policemen who were martyred in the terrorist attacks that hit Istanbul as two separate blasts took place in Istanbul on Saturday night, 45 seconds apart, with one of the bombs self-detonated by a suicide bomber in central Beşiktaş district's Maçka Park, and the other, a car bomb that was detonated in a nearby street. Thousands bid farewell to police officer Hakan Tanrıkulu in Sinop province, while Mehmet Atıcı and Adem Oğuz in Adana; Osman Börklüoğlu and Yasin İke in Kayseri and Enes Çiçek and Mehmet Taş in Şanlıurfa.

Century-old village surfaces during a low tide
A century-old village has surfaced in the southern Turkish province of Kahramanmaraş over a low tide of rivers and dams, 25 years after it was evacuated. The village, which is located in Avşar neighborhood in the town of Onikişubat, was evacuated in 1991. Old residents of the town said they fulfilled their longing after the water's low tide .

Sacks bearing the UN logo found in PKK shelter
The Turkish military has discovered sacks labeled with the United Nations (UN) logo in a Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) shelter in an operation in southeastern Turkey. The operation which revealed the UN sacks was conducted on Sunday in the Kovantepe district of southeastern Hakkari province. Along with the sacks bearing the UNHCR logo, 624 DShK heavy machine guns, 1,500 anti-aircraft guns, 11,080 AK-47 attack rifle munitions and 952 rounds of artillery shells were found in the caves used by the PKK terrorists.

Metrobus jumps lane, flies into highway in Istanbul
A metrobus has flown into the opposite lane on the D-100 highway in the Acıbadem district of Istanbul city in northwestern Turkey. The initial photos from the accident scene shows that a number of automobiles are trapped under the wreckage of metrobus. Many ambulances were sent to the scene as reports said people were wounded.Other metrobuses on the same majör service line stopped due to the accident, which hindered the public transportation.

Turkish police chief dons headscarf in ceremony for first time
A female police chief attending a ceremony adds a headscarf to her uniform for the first time after the attire restrictions for police women were removed on August 27, as the law was published in the Official Gazette. The ceremony was held in Istanbul's Taksim district for celebrating the August 30 Victory Day of Turkey. August 30th is Victory Day, when the Turkish nation annually celebrates Turkey's victory over Greek forces in the 5-day 1922 Battle of Dumlupınar, which occurred in the western province of Kütahya. The ceremony started with a minute of silence and the national anthem. The Istanbul Garrison and Metropolitan Municipality left a wreath on the Republic Monument in the ceremony. The ceremony was held amid high security measures.
