Izmir's 'ghost village' Lubbey to be brought into tourism
62-year-old Hamide Bozkus, who recently lost her husband in a traffic accident, continues to live in Izmir's Libbey village despite all the difficulties she faces there. The village, located in Odemis district and whose population plummeted to mere five people as a result of the migration of its people due to various reasons, defies time with its unique nature and historical buildings. Nevertheless, the village has recently become popular with photography enthusiasts and hiking groups with its original architecture and nature, however, it has now returned to its former desolation again due to Covid-19.

Forest fire destroys over 1,200 acres of land in Turkey

Turkish man takes care of island goats for 20 years
Turkish national Mustafa Simavlı has been voluntarily taking care of the goats which were left stranded on an island by locals for about 20 years. He has been carrying food to them four days a week on a boat in İzmir's Karaburun since the 1990s.

Turkey’s national flag carrier flies live fish to Oman
Turkish Cargo, a division of Turkey's national flag-carrier Turkish Airlines, carried 100 tons of live sea bream -- about 1.5 million -- to Oman from Turkey's Aegean province of Izmir late Monday. An aquaculture engineer accompanied the freight and hourly checked the tanks to maintain an optimum pH balance and oxygen and temperature levels for the fish.

Turkey rescues 68 refugees stranded in Aegean Sea
urkish Coast Guard helicopters fly over the Aegean Sea within a rescue operation for the refugees stuck in rocks in offshore Dikili district of Izmir, Turkey on December 14, 2017. The refugees, including women and children, were trying to reach Greek Islands when an inflatable boat carrying them got stuck at the small islet near Dikili district of Izmir, according to a statement from the Turkish Coast Guard. The coast guard teams airlifted four children, while the others were transferred to safety in boats.
