US feline born during the Reagan administration dies before Guinness confirms title as world's oldest living cat
A cat, recently recorded at the age of 30 as the world's oldest living domestic housecat, did not live to enjoy his title very long.
Tragically, Scooter, a Siamese from Mansfield, Texas, died by the time the Guinness Book of World Records officially confirmed his record.
His owner, Gail Floyd, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that his beloved pet passed away shortly after Guinness officially confirmed its title on April 8.
It is unusual for cats to live to their 20s. Scooter marked his 30th birthday on March 26th.
This was equivalent to around 136 human years. Scooter's successor in longevity is a fellow Texas cat, Curdoroy, who was 26 in August 2015.
