Syrian army says YPG/SDF drone attacks breach ceasefire, target civilians in Aleppo

Syria's military has accused the YPG/SDF of launching over 25 explosive drone attacks against its positions and civilian areas in the Aleppo countryside, violating a recently extended ceasefire. The attacks reportedly caused military and civilian casualties.
The Syrian Arab Army has stated that the YPG/SDF terrorist organization conducted a significant drone assault on its forces and civilian infrastructure in northern Aleppo province, marking a breach of a freshly renewed ceasefire agreement. According to a statement from the army's Operations Command reported by the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), more than 25 first-person-view (FPV) explosive drones targeted deployment sites near the Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) area on Sunday, destroying four military vehicles.
Civilian Areas Targeted, Ceasefire Violated
The military further accused the SDF of targeting the strategic M4 highway and nearby villages, wounding a number of civilians. Syria's Defense Ministry added that most of the drones were aimed at civilian homes and roads in the town of Sarrin, causing multiple injuries, though several were shot down by army forces. The attacks occurred just one day after the Syrian government announced a 15-day extension of a ceasefire with the SDF on Saturday.
Military Reviews Response Options
In its statement, the Operations Command said it is currently assessing the field situation and reviewing its response options. "The Syrian Army is considering its operational choices in response to the targeting of civilians and its deployment positions and will take the necessary measures," it declared. This incident follows the expiration of a previous four-day truce, after which authorities stated they were considering their next steps.
Allegations of Arrest Campaign and Clashes
SANA also reported a separate incident in which SDF forces allegedly surrounded homes near the village of al-Shuyoukh as part of what the army described as a "systematic arrest policy." The situation reportedly escalated into clashes with local residents, resulting in further civilian injuries.
