Uyghur Artists in Istanbul

Uyghur musicians and dancers from Türkiye, Europe and Central Asia gathered at Istanbul's Zeytinburnu Culture and Arts Center for a concert dedicated to the Twelve Muqam, the classical musical tradition at the heart of Uyghur culture. Recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, the Muqam is preserved by artists across the diaspora, and Türkiye is home to one of the largest Uyghur communities outside Central Asia.
