Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Monday, where he attended the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.
The meeting covered bilateral relations between Türkiye and Qatar, as well as regional and global issues, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Communications Directorate on its official account on the US social media company X.
President Erdogan said Israel’s attack on Qatar is unacceptable and that Ankara stands alongside Qatar.
He emphasized that Israel’s attack aims to undermine peace negotiations, that continuing negotiations under any circumstances would be beneficial, and that Türkiye will continue to support mediation efforts.
President Erdogan also noted that Türkiye-Qatar relations will be developed in all areas, especially in the defense industry and security.
During the meeting, the Turkish president conveyed his condolences to those martyred in the Israeli attack and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) President Ibrahim Kalın accompanied Erdogan during the meeting.
