Türkiye's defense firm Aselsan on Wednesday unveiled an expanded range of precision-guided munitions for Baykar's Akinci unmanned combat drone, showcasing three variants of the Tolun deep-strike family designed for different target types and mission profiles. The company said the Tolun I combines an impact fuze with a fragmentation warhead, the Tolun F features a proximity sensor for airburst effects, and the Tolun P carries a programmable time fuze with a penetration warhead for hardened targets.
Aselsan highlighted the system's operational flexibility in a social media post displaying the munitions integrated with the Akinci platform, stating: "Whenever, wherever, however we want." The firm emphasized that the munition family can deliver precision strikes under all operational conditions.
CEO promises game-changing capabilities
Aselsan Chief Executive Ahmet Akyol said cooperation between the two defense companies would provide precision strike capabilities and high destructive effect on the battlefield. "With the multiplier effect of serial production, these capabilities will continue to be game-changing in the skies," he added, noting that the Tolun family offers superior precision and high impact under all conditions with its diversifying capabilities.
Platform specifications
Developed by Baykar, the Akinci is a twin-engine unmanned combat aerial vehicle capable of carrying a wide range of domestically produced air-to-ground and air-to-air munitions. The platform enables strategic strike and intelligence missions for the Turkish Armed Forces, with the new Tolun family adding deep-strike precision to its existing payload options.
