Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan toured the Alem.AI Artificial Intelligence Center in Astana on Thursday together with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The visit took place after the Türkiye-Kazakhstan Business Forum, as part of Erdoğan’s official trip to attend the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting and the Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
Briefing and presentation
Erdoğan was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, and other senior officials. Tokayev and Kazakh officials briefed the Turkish delegation on the center’s activities and ongoing artificial intelligence projects. The Turkish president also watched a video presentation about Türkiye displayed on screens at the facility.
Focus on technology cooperation
The visit underscores growing cooperation between Ankara and Astana in advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation. As Türkiye positions itself as a regional technology hub, partnerships with fellow Turkic states such as Kazakhstan are increasingly important. The Alem.AI center, launched as part of Kazakhstan’s digitalisation drive, represents a potential model for Turkish-Kazakh joint ventures in the AI sector.
