Between Tel Aviv and Tehran…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented the 55,000 documents claimed to be found in a secret storage in Tehran by military intelligence by putting on a “show” – even though it wasn’t a Broadway performance, at the Tel Aviv scale.

He announced to the world that Iran continued to develop nuclear weapons despite the deal it signed with P5+1 countries (U.K., France, China, Russia, U.S. and Germany) in 2015.

The world public cannot be fooled by such presentations. However, the Israeli parliament giving Netanyahu the “authority for war” following this show that was staged at the defense ministry, shows that the plan to raise tensions aimed at Iran is starting to become inflamed.

After the show, U.S. President Donald Trump said, “The president proved me 100 percent right,” and blessed the “preparation” regarding Iran.

As it is known, Trump frequently and strongly states that he is going to withdraw from the deal with Iran, or at least, that the deal must be revised. On May 12, the White House is going to announce its decision about re-adjusting the deal. That is the timing of the “show.”

The Iran issue is not nuclear alone; it of course means the Gulf, Syria, energy and its ways, the Astana and Sochi components, Af-Pak, Shiite-Sunni maps, the Caspian and of course, Turkey.

Such a nightmare over Tehran will open the lid on all relevant Pandora’s boxes.

US: There is a secret nuclear program destabilizing all international balances

Efforts of principle European countries to stop the White House’s endeavors in this direction may be considered as a clue in this sense. However, we first need to pay attention to two visits.

The first is U.S. CENTCOM Commander Joseph Votel’s first Tel Aviv visit, which we underlined on the Akıl Odası TV program as soon as it happened.

The second is the Israel visit by former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who, in his own words, said, “I’ve been the Secretary for a handful of hours. As I was saying earlier, I haven’t been to my office yet.”

Hence, the most dangerous support after Netanyahu’s presentation came in the form of the U.S. Department of State’s official statement:

“The documents presented by Prime Minister Netanyahu have revealed that Iran has a secret nuclear program that destabilizes international balances. The documents obtained by Israel from inside of Iran show beyond any doubt that the Iranian regime was not telling the truth.”

In reality, there can be no other situation more suspicious than this “campaign,” but if the U.S. and Israel are going to “do something,” the faulty ground is not going to stop them.

Berlin-Paris-London-Moscow oppose… As a matter of fact, so does Ankara

Though French President Emannuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Washington visits were reflected on the screens generally in the context of “who held or did not hold whose hand,” both leaders tried to change the U.S.’s mind about pulling out from the Iran nuclear deal and failed.

As a matter of fact, Macron used the friendship that reached to the extent of “dandruff cleansing,” and made a clever proposal with respect to negotiate the Syria dispute, Iran missile program and Tehran’s regional policies in the form of a new package. However, the U.S. became aware of the concoction.

Meanwhile, Germany presented the argument that the 2015 deal should be considered the “beginning,” and that steps toward making the U.S.’s objections on this ground will be stronger. This received no response either.

Merkel and Macron returned empty-handed. U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May was the last one left behind and the statement by Number 10 was: “The London, Paris, Berlin trio are supporting the current deal. The deal is the best solution method that will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.” (It is unknown what resistance these strong statements display under U.S. pressure, but it is obvious that one of the points the triple objection breeds on is “being fed up with Israel.”)

One other meeting took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Netanyahu. Netanyahu called the Kremlin and gave information on the documents he revealed. It is obvious he wanted to test Russia after the briefing.

The Kremlin became harsher: “This deal, which is of primary importance in terms of the world’s safety, must be abided by all parties.”

‘Diplomacy never dies’… Even when it should

The termination of the nuclear deal, also officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), by the U.S. – with a helping hand from Israel – has the potential to infect all the open and internal wounds of the region.

The contents of the statements made one after the other by the sides might be the same, what is important is that they came “one after the other.”

The observation that is becoming increasingly clear is that it has become difficult to maintain the 2015 deal as it is. On a different note, the point the North and South Korea crisis has reached is crystal clear.

This is Trump’s style. Pressuring Tehran and the region so much should be faced with the question: “What do you want?” Iran has been under sanctions since 1980 anyway. Changing the regime? Not easy. Military option? Just as difficult.

It is obvious that in the beginning Syria, Iraq and Lebanon are going to be the fields of this conflict/deal. The problem in terms of Washington is that there are other countries on the ground that are disturbed by the U.S. presence. Plus, Russia and China will not cooperate with the U.S. for Iran.

Meanwhile, Tehran is seeking an open door in the Oval Office. It can see that the moment the pressure becomes unbearable, that door will be opened and a new path will be paved – for a new deal that will make things easier for Israel as the U.S. hands over Iraq and Syria.
