Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe converts to Islam, reveals Islamic name

Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe has announced her conversion to Islam during a Ramadan event that she hosted with her husband, Kazeem Adeoti.

In a video trending on social media, the 45-year-old actress revealed her new Islamic name as Hajia Meenah Mercy Adeoti.

During an interview at the event, Aigbe expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m so excited. I feel fulfilled actually. This is actually my first Ramadan lecture and then Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam. It’s like gathering people and letting them be aware of what Allah says, so that we can follow the rules that Allah has set. So I’m so happy that people that we called came here."

Nollywood has seen a growing number of celebrities converting to Islam from Christianity, and Aigbe's decision has generated interest among fans and the public.

Other Nollywood actresses who have converted to Islam include Vivian Metchie, Liz Da Silva, and Lola Alao.
