Alliance of Kurds, Turks and Conservatives

Alliance of Kurds, Turks and Conservatives

We have to accept that the people threw a curveball. We also need to accept that the people's common sense and foresight once again made the best decision.

Similar to all elections held to date, in this election, too, the people showed a strong reflex to protect their nation, unity, stability and territory.

Heroic resistance of Kurds

On the election night I was focused on the votes of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). To me, the reaction of voters there, was going to be the most critical, meaningful and strategic response in this election. Just like on June 7.

I spoke with almost all survey companies. I became confused and had heart palpitations as they all said there is no change in the HDP's votes. Yet I always had a feeling that Kurds would not simply sit back and watch all that was happening.

To me, the response from Kurds to a terrorist organization that burns and destroys cities, provinces and streets declaring autonomy and wants to divide the country and its political extention, was a lot more meaningful than any reaction from Turks.

Eventually, the HDP, which placed no distance between itself and terrorism, leaning on the PKK's extention, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed wing, the People's Protection Units (YPG), got the slap it deserved.

The white Turks, leftists and anti-Erdoğan camp, who had voted for the HDP on June 7, also showed reaction to the HDP. However, what is most important is the reaction Kurdish voters in Diyarbakır, Van, Ağrı and Şırnak showed the HDP.

I think, the Kurdish people, who did not partake in any of the PKK's calls to riot, refused to boycott schools, refrained from taking to the streets, were the people who looked out most for this country's unity. And despite all threats, they showed record turnout at the ballot box this election. By voting for the AK Party, they gave their response and message to the whole world, loud and clear.

This is no ordinary incident. Think about it, your neighbors all around you are the homes of armed PKK militants. You are living there with your family, children and loved ones. And you are refusing to join the call of those militants to revolt, protest and boycott. You are refusing despite the threats. This literally is heroism.

AK Party a line of defense against division

The PKK's call to revolt means tearing a part of this country. The PKK's declartion of autonomy is turning the thousand-year history of Kurds and Turks living together into a nightmare. This is what the Kurds refused. They did this by throwing into danger their lives, their children and family.

The AK Party garnering Kurdish votes in the east and southeast from the provinces and cities witnessing the bloodiest conflicts, terrorism and fights, shows where to stand shield against division. What was a nightmare for me on June 7 was the total opposite of this.

The AK Party's losing Kurdish votes is nothing like another party's loss of votes. This loss would mean the rise of racism and cause disunity, which would, God forbid, lead to great harm.

Now, Kurds are back home. You will see, it is going to be these patriotic, national, local Muslim Kurds to end the PKK terror.

Still, it first killed then revived the HDP, carrying it just barely over the national election threshold, not suffocating it. It gave it one last chance to leave terrorism, do politics and to look out for its country and flag. This is a very meaningful reaction.

Homeland defense of nationalists

The second votes I followed on election night were the MHP's nationalist votes. Like Kurds, one of the most important building blocks of our unity is represented by nationalist/conservative votes. These votes which had shifted from the AK Party to the MHP on June 7 had also concerned me very much.

Imagine that the Turkish nationalists were concentrated in the MHP, Kurdish nationalists in the HDP, the Alevis in the CHP and the religious in the AK Party, that is when the country will be completely divided into camps and enter the battlefield. This is why we have said and continue to say the AK Party, which is able to embody all these segments and represent them from anywhere in the country, is more than a political party.

The AK Party is the people's common house, common table and common sense. However, if all these components are found in that house, the AK Party could have been the "family home" representing unity.

This is why it was just as critical for the nationalists as it was for Kurds to return to the AK Party. Fortunately, the nationalists who saw that the country's unity, the continuity of the state, the people's future is in question, came to stand alongside their Kurdish brethren with the AK Party and reinforced their line of defense.

With the will of God, nobody can break a line of defense in which nationalists and Kurds are side by side.

Return of the Islamists

Lastly, my eyes were on the conservative/religious electorate constituting the backbone of the AK Party, the blood running through its veins, its dynamo.

The Islamists, conservatives and the religious voters, who reacted to what happened prior to June 7, who were hurt, offended and felt that there was a deviation from the cause, also came back. The votes that shifted from the Felicity Party (SP), Grand Unity Party (HDP) or other minor parties could be an indication of this.

However, this alone is not an indicator.

The energy and wind created by those people who make up the source of that fountain of ideas and love, can only be noticed by those who know them well.

When the staff soldiers in the line of defense saw the distress of the ummah, they left their homes and went to the ballot box to protect the last fortress from falling. They prayed on the way there hhhand had Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Yemen in their hearts. They knew their votes were to protect Turkey, the last fortress of the Muslim world, the harbor of the oppressed.

Eventually Kurds, Turks and the conservatives made an alliance. The AK Party's side was filed with these main components that made it be, and made it grow, as well as the plain citizens and sincere people who believe in their country.

With the homeland, people ummah, flag in question, one of every two people came running.

AK Party charged with forming national unity

Nov. 1 will go into history as the reflex of the people to protect rheir country and unity. The AK Party's duty is to immediately and without hesitation turn the favor of the appreciative people into complete unity and embracement.

The other person, who chose not to vote for the AK Party, should be found and convinced to leave aside differences to defend the homeland, flag and ummah.

Now is the perfect time to form a political union against the attacks of terrorists and foreign forces, against polarization and conflict.
