Yaşar University students' invention may bring hope to more than 1 million paralytics as project gains support from TÜBİTAK
A group of students at Yaşar University in Turkey have invented a brain-controlled wheelchair.
The wheelchair, invented by Ali Selek and İlker Işık, is a positive development for 1 million paralytics as the project has gained support from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
The chair is controlled by the occupant's brain waves and includes a GPS system to be able to declare location.
The engineering department students said that their inspiration was a system called EPG, decoding brain waves.
"When we complete our project, disabled people will be able to continue their own lives without needing anyone even when they are not able to control the wheelchair," the students said.
