Suspected drug dealers were given a rude awakening as police raided several addresses in Istanbul, according to police sources
A number of people were detained early Saturday in police raids targeting hideouts of drug peddlers in Istanbul.
Anti-drug teams using specialist equipment forced entry into properties in the Gaziosmanpaşa district. Police sources said the dawn raids were a direct result of months of intelligence-led policing.
The operation was backed by police helicopter, riot police and special operation forces.
The suspects were taken to the Istanbul Police Department for questioning.
