Iranian army officials said Wednesday they launched drone attacks targeting US military infrastructure at Al-Azraq base in Jordan and Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain, expanding the aerial campaign Tehran has waged against American regional assets as exchanges of fire continue despite a Pakistan-brokered June peace agreement.

Iranian army officials on Wednesday announced a fresh wave of drone attacks targeting US military installations at Al-Azraq base in Jordan and Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain, expanding the aerial campaign Tehran has waged against American regional assets since hostilities intensified last week. State broadcaster IRIB reported that the operation commenced Wednesday morning, with unmanned systems striking specific infrastructure at both locations.

Installation targets

The aerial assets hit housing complexes and welfare facilities alongside equipment storage sites used by American forces at the Jordanian installation, according to the state media report. Iranian forces also struck large equipment warehouses and heavy aircraft maintenance workshops at the Bahraini base, military officials said.

Regional interception efforts

The latest strikes came one day after Iranian officials acknowledged missile attacks against the same facilities, prompting air defense responses from both host nations. Jordanian authorities announced their systems had intercepted and destroyed several Iranian missiles and drones entering the kingdom’s airspace, while Bahrain’s military confirmed it had shot down multiple aerial attacks following nationwide air raid sirens.

Diplomatic deadlock

Officials in Amman and Manama had not issued immediate statements regarding the Wednesday drone strikes by press time. Washington has intensified its offensive operations against Iran since last week, drawing retaliatory strikes from Tehran targeting facilities and bases it identifies as American military assets across several regional states. The sustained exchange of fire has persisted despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June to terminate the war that began in February and establish a framework for a lasting peace agreement.
