Ottoman spirit and model: The future of humanity

All great foreign historians see the Ottoman Empire as the symbol of justice and fairness. But, in this country, the Ottoman Empire can still be seen as an oppressor and imperialist.

Who are such people, if not slaves in love with their executioner, please, you tell me.

Yet, we are at the breaking point of history: The breaking points of history are also times of re-establishment.

The world is due for new formations, especially for the Ottoman model and spirit.

It won’t be long, within the next half a century, we are going to be face to face with an entirely different world.

If we refrain from making huge mistakes and prepare well for the future, we can be the ones to make history all over again.

The nation-state understanding that developed in Europe in the 19th century, and a little with the strengthening of the secularism/Westernization movement and its support from the outside, rapidly destroyed the Ottoman Empire. What’s more, the nation-state understanding that collapsed the Ottomans collapsed Europe as well after the two great wars that ended in the sharing of countries.

Edgar Morin talks about how the modern/secular paradigms, on which the nation-state is based, “is turned into a religion with the ideology of neo-nationalism.” The neo-nationalism ideology that encompasses race-based national political, cultural and mental formations has also brought the end of empires in Europe.

It was the American experience that saved Western civilization – from collapsing for another century. The American experience is not a nation-axis political and cultural organization, on the contrary, it is a transnational, supra-national experience that is reminiscent of the imperial experience, and that is able to maintain different races even if by melting them under its own structure.

The closest example and model in modern history is the Ottoman “millet [nation] system.”

This is the reason for the deep American interest in the Ottoman Empire for the last 50 years and the reason behind their establishing strong “Ottoman platforms” one after the other in U.S. universities.

Yet, the American experience has, today, paved the way for the world to become an unlivable place, as it suggests nothing other than the project to secularize and capitalize the entire world, and because secular capitalism is not based on the multi-dimension and depth that can enable all other cultures and religions to coexist, but rather based on physical reality and the consecration, exploitation and pillaging of this world, based on the form of perception and existence that is one-dimensioned, shallowing, opportunistic, standardizing, that is a self-imposing form of perception and existence that does not give the other the right to live.

Yet, the Ottoman experience is the sole encompassing and embracing global civilization experience that has been able to develop the will to allow communities that are members of different religions and cultures to live together and as themselves; these facts have been accepted by certain important local and foreign historians.

Why is the Ottoman Empire the future of humanity?

It is impossible for Americans to fully comprehend and apply the Ottoman model and spirit.

The Ottoman spirit is a unique spirit that first emerged from Mecca and Medina and then applied Dar al-Islam (Land of Islam) to life. This is the spirit that enabled the Ottomans alone to establish Dar as-Selam (Haven of Peace) and then Dar al-Insan (Haven of Humanity) in three continents.

The Chinese, Indians, Russians, Europeans and Americans have never been able to establish Dar as-Salam and Dar al-Insan. The Ottoman civilization has been the only one to gift humanity the sole global civilization experience and world order to top all certain past civilizations in history, give all religions, cultures and civilizations the right to live, not destroy not be destroyed by any of them.

The West took control of the world first through the European then through the American experience. They turned the haven of peace that the Ottomans built in six centuries into hell in a century alone.

This is why Arnold Tonybee said, “The Ottoman Empire is the future of humanity.”

The Ottoman Empire collapsed physically because it resisted capitalism. The Ottoman Empire lives in spirit because it resisted capitalism.

A Yemeni, who was old in spirit, had phrased this as, “Istanbul fell, the Muslim world fell. The Muslim world pulling itself together depends on Istanbul getting up on its feet.”

It is not for nothing that the children of the oppressed world are confident that the Ottoman spirit and model is the actor to pull together the oppressed.

So, what are we doing? We have been busy for a century, making greater effort than the West, to clear the traces of the Ottomans, to wipe it out, to destroy its spirit. Unbelievable!

The future belongs to the Ottoman model. Race-based, West-centered secular projects had collapsed the Ottomans. Turkey is now obliged to see that it is endangering its own existence and destroying its future with its own two hands by upholding secularism to the level of religion.

At a time period in which the world is globalized, it should be noticed that race-based secular projects have turned the world into an inhabitable place, that the world needs projects such as the Ottoman model which gave different cultures, religions and civilizations the right to live and exist.

Us insisting and persisting to not see what the Americans see is a sign that we have become mentally blind and enslaved.

If Turkey is unable to internalize and develop the spirit that brought the Ottoman model into existence, the secular projects that destroyed the Ottoman Empire cannot be prevented from preparing and expediting the collapse of Turkey as well.

The world of the future that will be predominated by justice, fairness and multiculturalism will be determined by the Ottoman Empire that will be re-invented, and give all civilizations the right to life.

The Ottomans were stopped, the giant was put to sleep; if the giant is awoken, nobody can stand against it.

This is the secret behind why Turkey is sieged both from the inside and outside.
