Türkiye's economic confidence index climbed above the 100-point threshold in August to reach 100.6, driven by improved sentiment among consumers and manufacturers, according to data released Friday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Index enters optimistic territory
The gauge rose 0.8% from July’s 99.8 reading, breaking into optimistic territory. Values above 100 signal a positive economic outlook while readings below indicate pessimism, TurkStat said.
Households and factories lead gains
Consumer confidence strengthened 1% month-on-month to 90.8, while the real sector confidence index for manufacturing climbed 1.2% to 102.4. These advances offset softer readings elsewhere in the economy.
Construction drags on overall figure
Confidence edged lower across services, retail trade and construction. The services index slipped 0.1% to 111.9, while retail trade confidence dropped 0.8% to 110.1. The construction sector remained the weakest link, with its index falling 0.4% to 83.1 — the lowest reading among all sectors measured.
