Don't build your line of defense at your borders. If you do so, you will be inviting war to your own land. If you are doing this, it will become impossible to defend your cities and homes.
Turkey, which comes from a geopolitical background that defends Istanbul in Bosnia, Baghdad in Edirne, needs to build its own line of defense far away from its borders.
Unless there is vast defense entrenchment from Somalia to Yemen, the Persian Gulf to the Balkans and Caucasus, Turkey's plans for the future will undergo a tough test. Settling this circle, which is to be formed beyond borders, on a strong foundation, whether it is successful or impossible, will be the harbinger of whether or not it will be a strong future for Turkey.
The Turkey leg of the proxy war has kicked off
This is because the level of security of borders, the strength of the military/security entrenchment, is no longer a direct measure for the security of countries. During a time when proxy wars spread all out and covert wars expand to vast regions, there is no need to mention that these are actually state wars, a kind of global showdown.
Turkey meeting all threats coming from the south, and recently from Syria in particular, is an open invite to the regional chaos. Hence, the internal security problems it has been facing the last three months, is a war waged on Turkey, an outside intervention through the PKK and People's Protection Units (YPG). It is the introduction of the regional chaos, the carrying of the Syrian War into Turkey. The capital leg, media leg and political leg of this intervention have all been shaped with coordination formed among these circles.
This is where the great threat is and it is as though someone is realizing this step by step.
Attempt at internal invasion
The North Corridor formed in the north of Syria is the most dangerous anti-Turkey project planned in this direction. This plan, which has a history going all the way back to the invasion of Iraq, is implemented now with the dissolution of Syria. New steps are being taken to realize the corridor in which Turkey intervened and stopped at the last minute.
Hence, attack centers have been formed via the PKK and YPG within the country and domestic invasion plots, in the strict sense, beyond terror, have been activated. This intervention, which started with the negation of the reconciliation process, is in no way a matter of terror and also has a revenge movement aspect resulting from the anger felt toward the prevention of the North Corridor.
It could lead to regional war
Russia's entry to Syria first through airstrikes, then becoming inclined to turning to ground operations in partnership with Iran, needs to be analyzed within this context. Russia and Iran have taken over Syria. Their plans are not limited to protecting the Damascus regime and keeping Bashar Assad on his feet alone. This is a very serious geopolitical intervention that will radically change the Middle East's power map.
ISIL is a camouflage. It was produced as an excuse for the operations. Russian airstrikes directly targeting moderate opposition rather than ISIL reveals the true intentions of the project.
Russia and Iran, the two Asian powers, have launched an invasion – that will lead to a regional war – with the aim of reinforcing the Iran-Lebanon line, pushing back the positions of Atlanticist powers in Syria through Moscow's historical strategic goals and Iran's imperial goals.
Is the covert war turning into a war of states?
The intervention of the two countries is the invasion of Syria. This is no different to the U.S.'s invasion of Iraq. Moscow, which saw how desperate Atlantic forces were when it hit Georgia and annexed Crimea, combined its courage with Iran's contentiousness and planned such an invasion.
Russia is protecting its interests and security in the Mediterranean. It launched its defense shield in Syria. Whereas Iran is reinforcing its defense shield – after Lebanon and Yemen – in Syria. Tehran is taking full control of the Persian Gulf while settling into the Mediterranean and having access to the Red Sea. The breather provided by the latest nuclear deal it made with the West has given it the opportunity to turn its courage into complete imperial ambition. In today's world, it seems impossible for other forces to stand up as a state against these two countries, which have openly intervened in Syria. Such a thing is a “state of emergency” and its results will be very destructive, as it will be considered a kind of world war. The transformation of the existing covert war into an open war will be announced.
Tanks heading toward the Kaaba!
Then the only way to stop these two forces in Syria is through a proxy war. If we take into consideration that terrorist organizations are brought as substitutes for the state in many countries, an intense war may be started against Iran and Syria through organizations. Syria may give Moscow another bitter Afghanistan experience. Those who will not go against Russia implicitly will do this in a covert way.
The Syrian opposition and organizations for which such a war will last very long and lead to ruthless experiences are now facing a new war. And this means new alliances as well as new enemies.
This is certainly no longer a Syrian war. The first step of the regional war has been taken. After this, Persian Gulf countries will become unstable within a couple of years followed by the war moving into Saudi Arabia. At the endpoint, there is no doubt that Iran, or to put it correctly, Persian imperial desires, want to drive their tanks to the Kaaba's doors.
Russian missiles for Moscow, Iranian bullets for Tehran
Turkey should diligently analyze this intervention. The most intense impact of the disposition of the Russia-Iran axis on Syria will be over Turkey's interests. That is when the line of defense will be extended all the way to the borders and this will cause instability to spread throughout Turkey. Ankara can never leave Syrian opposition on its own.
Ankara should never forget that the YPG is a Trojan Horse for both the West and Russia and Iran that is used against Turkey and the region. If you look carefully, you can see that Turkey is being attacked directly through the PKK/YPG. Again, it is this terrorist organization that is the most important partner of the Russian-Iranian intervention in Syria. In this aspect, the threat has reached our doorsteps. Then we need to seek ways to push this threat beyond our borders.
The missiles, ground forces and heavy weaponry positioned right in the south of Turkey's borders are a preparation for what? For what reason are Russian and Iranian ground forces gearing up in this region?
But always remember that such interventions always incite surprises. Every country, every power knows the other's weaknesses. Syria is not the only battle of the Russian-Iranian axis with the Atlantic front. Taking into account that Iran provoked Russia, the future may hold further surprises for Russia. The missile fired from the Syrian city of Tarsus may well hit the Caucasus. Iran, which has more ethnic weaknesses than any other country in the region, may be shot with its own bullet.
