Turkey to meet Australia in Round of 16

2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Round of 16 is going to start on Saturday.

Group C runners-up Turkey will meet Australia, who came in third in Group D, in Barcelona on Sunday.

Tournament favourites U.S.A. won five group games out of five, and completed Group C as leaders. Meanwhile Turkey, who lost to U.S.A. and Ukraine, managed to qualify for the knock-out stage after winning against New Zealand, Finland and Dominican Republic.

Having lost the first three matches in the group, New Zealand advanced to last 16 after defeating Ukraine and Finland.

In Group C, U.S.A., Turkey, the Dominican Republic and New Zealand will be competing in Round of 16.

In Group A, host nation Spain defeating Serbia last night finished the stage as leaders. Moreover, Brazil smashed Egypt by 63-point-margin. France won against Iran.

In addition to Spain, Brazil, France and Serbia qualified for the next round.

Croatia toppled Puerto Rico by a 21-point gap while the Philippines won against Senegal. Greece, Croatia, Argentina and Senegal advanced to Round of 16.
