Samsung to build AI mega factory using 50,000 Nvidia GPUs

Samsung has announced a major partnership with Nvidia to construct an "AI Mega Factory," powered by 50,000 Nvidia GPUs. The facility will leverage AI to optimize the entire semiconductor manufacturing process, from design to production. The collaboration also includes using Nvidia's Omniverse platform for simulation.
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a strategic partnership with chip giant Nvidia to create a massive "AI Mega Factory," a facility that will be powered by a deployment of 50,000 Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs). The initiative is designed to deeply integrate artificial intelligence across Samsung's entire manufacturing workflow, significantly accelerating the development and production of next-generation semiconductors, mobile devices, and robotics. Specific details regarding the factory's location and construction timeline were not disclosed.
A Fully Integrated Intelligent Network
According to the company, the AI Factory will create a unified intelligent network that integrates every facet of semiconductor manufacturing. This includes design, process development, equipment operation, and quality control. "AI will continuously analyze, predicts and optimizes production environments in real time," Samsung stated, highlighting the move towards a fully autonomous and optimized production system. The company will also utilize Nvidia's Omniverse simulation platform to scale its next-generation AI manufacturing infrastructure.
A Deepening Symbiotic Relationship
The partnership extends beyond a simple supplier-client dynamic. Samsung is a significant producer of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a critical component that Nvidia uses extensively in its AI systems. The two companies confirmed they will collaborate to adapt Samsung's fourth-generation HBM memory specifically for Nvidia's AI chips, strengthening their symbiotic relationship in the global AI supply chain. Samsung also plans to run its own proprietary AI models on the newly deployed Nvidia hardware.
Context within Nvidia's Broader Strategy
This announcement follows a series of strategic moves by Nvidia, whose CEO Jensen Huang recently revealed partnerships with other major firms like Palantir and Uber. Huang also disclosed that Nvidia has secured $500 billion in revenue for its current and next-generation GPU architectures. This robust financial performance recently propelled Nvidia to become the first company to surpass a $5 trillion market capitalization, underscoring its dominant position in the AI technology sector.
