Türkiye's intelligence chief brokers Gaza ceasefire talks in Cairo

Turkish National Intelligence Organization chief Ibrahim Kalın has conducted crucial mediation talks with senior Qatari and Egyptian officials in Cairo, focusing on advancing the Gaza ceasefire process. The high-level security meeting brought together key regional actors to address escalating tensions in the Palestinian territory and reinforce truce mechanisms.

Trilateral Mediation Efforts

According to security sources, Kalın met separately with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Egypt's General Intelligence Service head Hassan Rashad. The discussions positioned Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt as primary mediator and guarantor parties in the ongoing ceasefire process, highlighting Ankara's growing diplomatic role in regional conflict resolution.

Advancing Ceasefire Implementation

The primary focus of the Cairo talks centered on progressing to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement amid concerns about increasing violations. Officials worked to establish more robust mechanisms for maintaining the truce and preventing further escalation in the conflict-ridden Palestinian territory, while also coordinating with American diplomatic efforts.

Strengthening Coordination Mechanisms

The parties agreed to enhance cooperation with the Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC) to remove obstacles hindering the ceasefire's continuation. During the discussions, Kalın reaffirmed Türkiye's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, stating that Ankara would continue to stand with the Palestinian people using all available means and diplomatic channels.
