Palestinians attend a funeral ceremony held at Al-Shifa Hospital for Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on different areas of Gaza City, Gaza, Palestine, on August 2, 2026.The Health Ministry in Gaza said Monday that Israeli fire killed 19 Palestinians in the past 24 hours — 18 directly by forces and one from previous wounds — raising the death toll from the ongoing genocide to 73,375 as daily attacks persist despite an Oct. 10 ceasefire agreement.
Gaza's Health Ministry announced on Monday that Israeli military fire killed at least 19 Palestinians over the past 24 hours, pushing the cumulative death toll from the genocide to 73,375 as the enclave endures relentless attacks despite a ceasefire that took effect earlier this month.
Daily casualties mount
A ministry statement said that 18 people were killed by Israeli forces and one died of wounds sustained in a previous attack. Another 35 injured people were transferred to hospitals in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of injuries to 174,220 since October 2023.
Ceasefire violations continue
Despite a ceasefire agreement reached on Oct. 10 after two years of war, the Israeli army has continued daily attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 1,250 Palestinians and injuring 4,110 others since the truce took effect. The ministry said Saturday that July marked the deadliest month this year, with 152 people killed in the enclave.
Widespread destruction
Israel launched its genocide on Oct. 8, 2023, following months of escalating tensions that have devastated the coastal enclave. The onslaught has destroyed approximately 90% of civilian infrastructure, with United Nations estimates placing reconstruction costs at around $70 billion.
