Israeli army issues evacuation alerts for Lebanese towns despite truce

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued evacuation warnings for multiple towns in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, claiming civilian areas are being used by Hezbollah despite an ongoing ceasefire and only one day after Tehran announced the suspension of hostilities against Israel.
The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for residents of multiple towns in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, including the port city of Tyre, claiming the areas harbor Hezbollah infrastructure despite an ongoing ceasefire and only one day after Tehran suspended its missile attacks against Israel.
Specific warnings issued
Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee published the alerts on social media platform X, listing Tyre — including its Christian Quarter — alongside Shabariha, Hammadieh, Jal al-Bahr, Zaqqouk al-Mfadi, Al-Bass, Al-Maashouq, Burj al-Shamali, Nabatieh, Al-Hawsh, Al-Rashidieh, and Ain Baal as locations requiring immediate civilian departure. The warnings indicated that continued presence in these areas would be considered dangerous.
"Your presence near Hezbollah members, facilities, or military equipment puts your life at risk," Adraee said, attributing the danger to alleged militant activity in residential zones. Israeli authorities have previously issued similar evacuation notices preceding strikes on southern Lebanese areas they claim contain Hezbollah positions.
Regional escalation
Tehran announced on Monday that it had halted its missile strikes against Israeli targets, though Iranian officials warned of a "crushing" response should Israeli attacks against Lebanon continue. The statement followed a sharp escalation on Sunday when Israeli warplanes bombed Beirut despite the nominal ceasefire, prompting Iran to launch retaliatory missiles into northern Israel and triggering subsequent Israeli airstrikes against Iranian installations.
The evacuation orders mark the latest development in a rapidly shifting conflict that has seen repeated ceasefire violations over recent days. Regional observers note that the targeting of Tyre, a major population center, represents a significant expansion of Israeli evacuation demands beyond border villages.
