Russian drone swarm hits Odesa: 20 civilians injured in port city

Overnight aerial bombardment by Russian forces has left at least twenty civilians wounded in Odesa, Ukraine's strategic Black Sea port. The massive drone assault targeted residential neighborhoods and critical infrastructure, destroying a kindergarten and damaging multiple apartment blocks. Local authorities report that while air defenses intercepted the majority of unmanned aerial vehicles, several struck civilian areas, resulting in significant property destruction and casualties including a teenager.
At least twenty civilians have sustained injuries following a nocturnal Russian unmanned aerial vehicle assault on Odesa, the strategic Ukrainian Black Sea port metropolis. Serhiy Lysak, who administers Odesa's military-civilian operations, announced via Telegram that residential quarters and non-military infrastructure bore the brunt of the bombardment across multiple municipal zones, particularly devastating the Prymorskyi neighborhood. The district saw significant structural damage to a multistory apartment complex and a five-floor residential structure, while standalone homes and residential properties in the metropolitan center likewise sustained damage.
Civilian infrastructure under fire
Public service venues and commercial enterprises also came under fire during the extensive aerial operation. An educational facility for young children suffered catastrophic destruction, according to administrative reports. A retail complex, hospitality establishment, and government offices experienced varying degrees of structural compromise. In the Khadzhybeiskyi district, municipal utilities, storage depots, and a communal parking structure registered direct impacts, further disrupting daily life in the coastal city.
Casualties and medical response
The casualty toll initially stood at sixteen, including a minor aged seventeen, though regional administrator Oleh Kiper subsequently revised the injury count upward to twenty. Medical personnel are providing critical care to two individuals in intensive therapy units, working to stabilize their vital functions following the bombardment. Hospital teams continue treating the wounded while assessing the full extent of physical trauma inflicted upon the civilian population during the sustained aerial incursion.

Air defense operations
Ukrainian aerial defense systems reportedly neutralized 172 of the 206 unmanned combat aircraft dispatched by Moscow during the nighttime operation. Despite this high interception rate, sufficient projectiles penetrated defensive screens to cause significant material damage and human suffering. This assault marks the second major attack on the maritime hub within the same week, following an earlier strike that wounded fourteen residents and affected three separate districts. Russian authorities have issued no statements regarding the military operation or its consequences for civilian populations in the Black Sea region.
