Zelenskyy says draft documents prepared after Ukraine-US peace talks in Miami

Following negotiations with US envoys in Miami, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that several draft documents have been prepared covering security guarantees, recovery, and a basic framework for ending the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday that several draft documents have been prepared following a new round of talks between Ukrainian negotiators and US envoys in Miami. The documents reportedly cover security guarantees for Ukraine, post-war recovery, and a foundational framework for ending the nearly four-year conflict with Russia.
Productive Negotiations with US Envoys
Zelenskyy stated that his chief negotiator, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff delivered a report after working "productively" with representatives of US President Donald Trump. "The core of all documents is ready," Zelenskyy noted in an earlier statement, acknowledging that certain points remain unacceptable to both Kyiv and Moscow. He added that American officials are now continuing separate negotiations with Russian representatives.
Documents Aimed at Ending War and Preventing Future Conflict
The Ukrainian president framed the drafts as aligning with the dual goal of ending the current war and preventing a future one. He emphasized the need for diplomacy to be paired with sustained pressure on Russia and support for Ukraine. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed the talks had focused on a 20-point peace plan, security guarantee frameworks, and an economic recovery plan for Ukraine.
