Turkey's hazelnut exports reach $1.69 billion

Turkey has earned $1.69 billion by exporting 221,731 tons of hazelnuts in 10 months during the 2013-2014 hazelnut export season.

According to a written statement from the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association, more than 164,000 tons were exported to EU countries through the season, which began on September 1, 2013 and ended on June 31, 2014.

In the same period of last season, Turkey has exported 268,699 tons of hazelnuts and obtained $1.54 billion.

Turkey is the largest producer of hazelnuts in the world with its approximately 75 percent of worldwide production.
