FETO, PKK suspects nabbed along Turkish-Greek border, says National Defense Ministry
Nine people, including four terror suspects, were arrested while they were trying to flee to Greece through Turkey's northwestern border, authorities said Friday.
Border troops nabbed them in the Edirne province, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Among them were found two PKK and two FETO terror suspects, it added.
The Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey, which left 251 people killed and 2,734 injured.
Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
