Atletico Madrid crowned champion of Spanish top-tier football league for 1st time since 2014

Atletico Madrid clinched the Spanish La Liga title with a 2-1 away victory against Real Valladolid on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid was crowned champion of Spain’s top-division football league for the 11th time, and the first since 2014.

Collecting 86 points, the team finished the La Liga two points ahead of second-place Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid claimed a 2-1 home victory over Villarreal in another La Liga game on Saturday.
