Galatasaray lost to Kasimpasa on Sunday evening with a 2-1 score in Turkey's Super Lig, losing the leader's spot to Medipol Basaksehir.

Despite getting the lead in the 37th minute of the match with a beautiful finesse shot by Garry Rodrigues, Galatasaray was unable to stay in front and committed a penalty in the last minute of the first half.

Mbaye Diagne scored the penalty kick for Kasimpasa to equalize the match at 1-1.

Goals were not the only important element in the first 45 minutes, as Galatasaray's Bafetimbi Gomis seemed to have passed out on the pitch for a moment in the 15th minute.

The Frenchman quickly got up and re-subbed in the match after the scary moment.

Galatasaray was unable to convert numerous chances in the second half, and paid the price in the 80th minute, as Kasimpasa's Bengali Koita kicked a great volley into the back of the net.

The 2-1 defeat cost Galatasaray the leading spot in the league, as Medipol Basaksehir defeated Trabzonspor on Sunday afternoon thanks to a goal from striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Galatasaray are now tied at second place with Fenerbahce, with both Istanbul clubs holding 44 points from 22 matches.

Basaksehir increased their points total to 46 to lead the league.

Fenerbahce on Saturday defeated Alanyaspor 3-0, with the help of Brazilian Giuliano scoring a brace.

Besiktas on Friday evening dropped two points in Konya as they drew with Konyaspor 1-1. The Black Eagles are now in 4th place with 41 points.

The league's 22nd match week will end on Monday evening after a Genclerbirligi-Goztepe match at 8 p.m. local time (GMT1700).
