The ongoing operation in Nusaybin sheds light on PKK desecration of Islam
At an abandoned home in Nusaybin town, Mardin, during the ongoing anti-terror raids, the Turkish military found that Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists had torn up copies of the holy Quran and thrown the pieces on the ground.
The military swept a home in which PKK terrorists were believed to have hidden. When they searched its rooms, they found copies of the Quran with every page ripped into small pieces.
The incident occurred on Wednesday during the ongoing operation against the PKK terrorist organisation. However, this is not the first report of the PKK defiling the Quran. In previous Quran desecration, the terrorist group used a copy of the Muslim holy book as a booby-trap. PKK also burnt a mosque in the historic town of Sur in Diyarbakır in recent months.
Nusaybin is still under curfew. Since the launch of the sweeping operation, 367 PKK members have been slain in the town.
A senior PKK leader based in Nusaybin is reportedly among terrorists killed in the most recent part of Turkey's retaliation. The neutralized terrorist, codenamed AGİT, is said to have ordered his comrades to burn homes before escaping.
The operation, launched nearly two months ago, is still underway in the town. The encounter, Hawk-7 Operation, aims to close ditches and remove barricades it set up to prevent military access to remote areas in the southeastern town.
