Narcotics police in Istanbul launch raids

Istanbul narcotics police conducted two separate drug operations on Wednesday.

In one operation, narcotics officers caught eight suspects with what police said was a huge amount of bonsai and marijuana in their apartment garden and on the roof.

As the suspects were taken to the police car, they tried to attack journalists.

Police also found a pump rifle, a scale, and 20 thousand Turkish liras ($9,400)

Bonsai is a depressant, so mixing it with other depressant drugs such as heroin, other tranquillizers or alcohol, can lead to an accidental overdose and even death.

Police forces raided more addresses during their large scale operations targetting drug dealers in the city.
