Rocket shells, fired from Syria, led to a terror alert in the southeastern province just hours after an artillery strike hit another border province
Two rounds of rocket shells were fired from Syria into Turkish territory on Saturday. No casualties were reported in the attack which hit Gaziantep province, bordering war-torn country.
One of the rocket shells fell on an empty field while another one fell into a garden near buildings on public land near the province's airport in Oğuzeli town.
Officials said one rocket shell exploded while the other did not. The buildings on public land were evacuated immediately after the attack.
All roads leading to the airport were sealed by gendarmerie forces as a security measure. It is still unclear where the rocket shells were fired from. Governor Ali Yerlikaya went to the scene to lead the investigation.
This is the second attack from Syria in the last 24 hours. On Friday at 6 pm, two artillery shells, fired from other side of the Turkish-Syrian border, fell in Elbeyli town in Kilis. One of them hit a house and injured four people inside, including two children.
