Tiger mauls zoo visitors in Turkey

Two visitors were injured on Tuesday in a tiger attack at Darıca zoo in Kocaeli province, northwestern Turkey, it was reported.

The Siberian tiger mauled a 6-year-old girl and her aunt, who did not stay in the visitor's gallery and approached its cage to take some pictures.

Aunt Meryem Dereli, 26, suffered injuries to her hands trying to rescue her niece, identified only by her initials, Z.K. The two were taken to a hospital in Darıca district by paramedics.

Doctors said the child suffered eight lacerations on her arm, back and neck while her aunt had claw wounds on her hands.
