TUBITAK: METU selected the most innovative Turkish

Ankara-based METU has topped the list of the most entrepreneurial and innovative universities in Turkey, TUBITAK says

Turkey''s Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Isik announced the results of the index of the most entrepreneurial and innovative universities in Turkey, submitted by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, or TUBITAK.

The index, published on Friday, showed that METU was the head of the list with 83.09, while Sabanci University ranked second with 81.44 points. Istanbul-based Bogazici University appeared third with 76.34 points on the index, which ranks the top fifty universities.

The minister indicated that the main targets of the index is to increase competition among the universities and to develop the entrepreneurship ecosystems.

''This list did not show the quality of education of the universities or the best university in the Turkey, rather it only revealed the entrepreneurship and innovative status of the universities,'' Isik said.

The index, published in 2012 for the first time, prepared by TUBITAK and listed 50 most entrepreneurial and innovative universities in Turkey every year.
