The İyilik-Der Aid Association helped Iraqi and Syrian families in Turkey’s southeastern province Adıyaman
Iraqi and Syrian families escaping their war-torn countries came to Adıyaman, a southeastern province of Turkey, were provided with food and domestic appliances.
A few days before the Eid al-Adha, meaning “sacrifice feast,” one of the two most important holidays in the Muslim calendar, Shahzad Ali and his family, fleeing Iraq and taking refuge in Adıyaman, were provided with a refrigerator, a washing machine, an oven and carpets by the Adıyaman branch of the “İyilik-Der Association for Solidarity and Assistance.” Stating that they were very pleased with the aid, Shahzad Ali and his family expressed their joy to the members of the İyilik-Der Association, and noted that are grateful to Turkey and the Turkish people.
After helping the Iraqi family, İyilik-Der Association members continued with Mustafa Mohammed and his family who came from Syria. Mustafa Mohammed, fleeing the war with his family, said that they will never forget the aid of Turkey, and hung the Turkish flag on the terrace of their house as a symbol of their appreciation.
“I have been in Turkey for five days. I came from Kirkuk, Iraq. The war is ongoing in Iraq. I escaped the war as I feared for my children’s safety. Turkey is a Muslim, benevolent state. Turkey helps those who are in need. İyilik-Der helped us a lot,” Iraqi refugee Shahzad Ali said.
Over 3 million displaced Syrians fled the war to neighboring Turkey.
Mehmet Şaşma, an official from the İyilik-Der Association, stated: “Our families have just arrived from Iraq and Syria. We provided them with refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, carpets and some food.”
