Türkiye Insists Palestinians Must Govern Gaza Reconstruction

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has emphatically stated that Palestinian authorities must oversee both reconstruction efforts and administrative control in Gaza, asserting there should be "no doubt about this—none at all." The declaration came during international discussions in Paris addressing Gaza's transition, where Fidan also expressed caution about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reliability regarding peace agreements.

International Diplomacy and Implementation Framework

Fidan participated in high-level diplomatic conversations in Paris involving European, Arab, and other international partners examining Gaza's future. He confirmed the initial implementation phase includes four key objectives: establishing a ceasefire, exchanging hostages and detainees, initiating uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and withdrawing Israeli forces to designated lines, with Türkiye formally participating in the execution process.

The foreign minister highlighted a new cooperative framework developed under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's leadership, uniting Islamic nations and international partners. This model produced substantial outcomes during the Paris discussions, creating mechanisms for Gaza's economic and administrative revitalization while emphasizing the central importance of the two-state solution for lasting regional peace.

Fidan confirmed Türkiye will join the United States, Egypt, and Qatar in a four-nation task force facilitating agreement implementation and addressing issues between Palestinian and Israeli parties. While acknowledging the hope generated by the ceasefire, Fidan cautioned about potential implementation challenges, noting Netanyahu's historical unreliability on peace initiatives and the international community's vigilance against renewed conflict.
