Pro-goverment forces continue strikes on predominantly Turkmen areas in the north a day after breaking rare calm
Armed forces, loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, have launched missile and artillery strikes on the Turkmen Mountain area in Latakia, close to the Turkish border.
The regime strikes specifically targeted the villages of Kelez and Ciprotos. Syrian Turkmen sources said that villages have become the scene of dramatically intensified airstrikes. The sound of bombing was heard in the Turkish town of Yayladağı, bordering Syria.
The regime ended the silent period introduced in Latakia and the suburbs of Damascus in late April. Strikes on Turkmen Mountain and Jabal Akrad resumed on Thursday. Yesterday's strikes targeting Yamadi village and areas near the village continued until late hours.
Russia and the United States agreed on cessation of hostilities in Syria's Latakia and Damascus provinces earlier on April 30.
