Syrian rebels have said they will reject Russia's offer of cooperation as long as it continues to bomb them
Usame Ebu Zeyd, legal advisor and commander of Free Syrian Army, said that “How can we accept such an offer while Russian warplanes are bombing our fighters, headquarters and civilians?" Ebu Zeyd emphasized that the Free Syrian Army has two basic aims, which are ousting Assad from power and fighting against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). "If Russia is serious in their offer, it should force Assad to go," he said.
Meanwhile, Issam al- Rayyes, spokesman for the Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army, told the BBC on Monday, "They should stop attacking our bases and then we can talk about future co-operation."
Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that Moscow was ready to support Syria's "patriotic opposition, including the so-called Free Syrian Army, from the air" and offered to fight together against ISIL.
Russia began carrying out airstrikes in war-torn Syria on Sept. 30 against ISIL. However, Russian air strikes have hit several rebel groups affiliated to the Free Syrian Army in order to help Syrian President Bashar al-Assad defeat Syrian opposition groups.
