Iran warns Israel's 'impunity' threatens Middle East peace at UN

Iranian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani has warned the UN Security Council that Israel's unchecked violations across the Middle East are creating a dangerous culture of impunity. Addressing the Council's open debate, Iravani detailed alleged war crimes in Gaza, settlement expansion in the West Bank, and recent aggression against Iranian sovereignty.
Tehran's representative to the United Nations issued a stark warning during Tuesday's open debate, asserting that Tel Aviv's persistent transgressions throughout the region are systematically undermining global legal frameworks. Amir Saeid Iravani emphasized that the continued absence of consequences for Israeli actions has fostered a hazardous environment where international law holds no authority, enabling further breaches of established norms.
Palestinian territories under siege
The Iranian diplomat highlighted ongoing breaches of the Gaza ceasefire, noting that military strikes and severe constraints on humanitarian access are exacerbating civilian suffering and deepening hunger crises. He further criticized the acceleration of colonization activities in occupied West Bank territories, describing these moves as blatant violations of United Nations resolutions and fundamental human rights principles that demand immediate international intervention.
Regional destabilization campaign
Iravani expanded his critique to encompass Israeli operations beyond Palestinian borders, citing military aggression within Syrian territory and the continued illegal occupation of the Golan Heights. He also denounced persistent violations of Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity, characterizing these actions as part of a broader pattern of regional destabilization threatening collective security and peace throughout the Levant.

Attack on Iranian sovereignty
The envoy specifically condemned the military assault conducted by Washington and Tel Aviv on February 28, labeling it an unprovoked war of aggression against the Islamic Republic. He argued that this joint operation represented a flagrant breach of international prohibitions against the use of force, insisting that both nations must bear full responsibility for this violation of Iranian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Call for international accountability
Rejecting what he termed baseless allegations against Tehran, Iravani dismissed attempts by certain delegations to shift focus from root causes of regional instability. He demanded durable solutions for Gaza including permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal of occupying forces, and unhindered humanitarian access, while affirming the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination and calling for accountability for grave breaches of international law.
