The organizations such as Sar El and The Lone Soldiers Centers send foreign legionnaires to the Israeli army.
Many paid and volunteer Jewish and foreign soldiers alike are reportedly recruited in the Israeli army
Thousands of foreign soldiers are serving in the Israeli army, and Jewish diaspora encourage them, both as paid soldiers and volunteers, Al Jazeera reported. The diaspora and other actors have non-combat roles.
The report reveals that all foreign soldiers serving in the Israeli army receive training from professional Israeli combat units. These troops took part in the Gaza attack in 2014.
Steve, an Israeli military trainer, spoke to Al Jazeera regarding those who joined the Israeli army:
“We have Jews and non-Jews alike. I've taken survivors from the Holocaust... groups who are not Jewish that support Israel and want to come and show their support for the soldiers.”
The volunteer organizations such as Sar-El, The Lone Soldiers Center and Mahal-IDF-Volunteers have branches across Europe, and organize events to attract people. These organizations reportedly use their own networks, social media and the press. Those deemed acceptable are employed, and encouraged to join the IDF.
'I killed children and civilians'
The fact that Israel employed foreign soldiers in their army was first revealed when Elena Zakusilo, a Ukrainian Jewish woman, confessed that she worked for the Israeli army and continued to do so, on a TV show “Lie Detector” in Ukraine in November 2013.
Stating that she received training in the Israeli army and killed many people, Zakusilo said: “The first time I killed was difficult for me. I threw the weapon and said I wasn't going anywhere. But I went.” Zakusilo confessed on the TV show that she killed many civilians, including children.
Many countries, including France and Britain, employ foreign nationals in their armies. While Britain recruits a number of people from various nations, France uses legionnaires in its army.
