Israeli strike kills Palestinian in Gaza City amid Eid ceasefire violations

Medical sources in Gaza said one Palestinian was killed and several others injured Thursday in an Israeli drone strike on the Zeitoun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City, as attacks continued during the Eid al-Adha holiday in violation of the October ceasefire agreement.
Drone strike during Eid
One Palestinian was killed and several others injured on Thursday when an Israeli drone struck civilians in the Zeitoun neighborhood of southeastern Gaza City, medical sources at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital said. The attack came on the second day of Eid al-Adha as Israeli forces maintained operations across the besieged territory despite the truce reached last October.
Israeli artillery simultaneously shelled the vicinity of the Sanafour junction in the eastern Tuffah neighborhood, witnesses told Anadolu. The body of the victim and multiple injured were transported to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital following the strike near the Imam al-Shafi'i Mosque, according to medical officials.
Casualties mount despite truce
Late Wednesday, an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building near the al-Israa Tower on Omar al-Mukhtar Street in central Gaza City killed ten Palestinians — including two girls and two women — and wounded eighteen others, medical sources said. The Gaza Media Office reported Thursday that Israeli attacks have killed 910 Palestinians and injured 2,747 since the ceasefire took effect more than seven months ago.

More than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 172,000 wounded since Israel launched its military campaign in October 2023, according to Palestinian health authorities. The majority of victims have been women and children, the sources added.
