Jordan intercepts 3 Iranian missiles as US strikes continue

Jordan's armed forces announced on Friday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed three Iranian missiles that breached the kingdom's airspace, with a military source stating the projectiles were targeting Jordanian territory, according to state-run Petra news agency.

The interceptions caused no injuries or material damage, the source added, noting that defensive protocols were activated to protect national sovereignty and secure the skies above the kingdom.

The incident came as the United States launched a sixth consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, deepening the crisis over the Strait of Hormuz. Washington and Tehran have exchanged repeated attacks in recent weeks despite signing a memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan that had aimed to end hostilities and establish a durable peace settlement.

Tensions have surged since February 28 when Washington and Tel Aviv initiated military operations against Tehran, triggering Iranian retaliation against American assets and allies across the Gulf region. The conflict has already claimed thousands of lives and disrupted vital energy shipments through the strategic waterway.
