North Korea will convene a plenary meeting of the Workers’ Party of Korea in late June for an interim review of 2026 policy implementation and to discuss second‑half work. The gathering follows the ninth party congress held in February.
North Korea has announced that a plenary meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) will take place next month. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Monday that the WPK’s political bureau decided to hold the second plenary meeting of the ninth central committee in late June.
Purpose of the meeting
The meeting will be convened “in order to have an interim review of the implementation of the party and state policies for 2026 and discuss the work in the second half of the year and a series of important issues,” KCNA said. North Korea regularly holds such plenary sessions at the end of June and December, but also calls them when urgent matters arise.
