The 'commander-in-chief' of the Syrian opposition group says U.S. President Obama stabbed them in the back
Ahmed Berri, the commander-in-chief of the opposition groups in Syria, said that U.S. President Barack Obama's administration has stabbed them in the back with its latest move to support the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in establishing a separate state in northern Syria.
“More than 500,000 civilians have been killed by the Assad regime, backed by Russia and Iran, in the six-year-long civil war. The Obama administration did not take any action for the 20 million Syrian citizens, yet now it has stepped forward to support 15,000 separatist Marxist PYD members in their move to establish a state,” Berri said.
Berri said that Iran and Russia continued to kill Sunni Muslims majorities for the sake of minority Nusayries while the US joined the war to support the PYD, an enemy of Islam.
“All elements in the war in Syria united against the Sunnis,” he said adding that “Unfortunately, the killed, displaced and injured civilians are Sunni Syrians.”
“If the incidents continue like the current situation, more mass killing and mass exile of Sunnis could be in store," the commander added.
He claimed that the main goal of the operation in Raqqa against Daesh is to make room for the PYD.
