Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that technical-level talks between the United States and Iran will convene in Burgenstock, Switzerland on Sunday under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar facilitating the implementation discussions.

Talks set for Swiss resort

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that technical-level discussions between Washington and Tehran are scheduled for Sunday in Burgenstock, Switzerland. The meetings will proceed under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, representing the first concrete step toward implementation since the accord was signed. Representatives from both nations will be joined by mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, who have facilitated the diplomatic breakthrough.

Washington and Tehran confirm participation

US Vice President JD Vance told Fox News on Saturday that high-level engagements could begin immediately upon the arrival of delegations. "We'll plan the talks when the principals from the Iranian government, also the Qatari and the Pakistani governments, arrive," Vance said, adding that this could happen "as soon as tomorrow." The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed separately that its delegation would travel to Switzerland to pursue compliance with commitments made by Washington under the existing agreement.

Pakistan's continued facilitation

Islamabad has emphasized its commitment to maintaining a mediating role throughout the implementation phase of the memorandum. The Foreign Ministry stated that Pakistani officials will remain engaged to ensure the process advances toward concrete outcomes. The Islamabad MoU was established to create a structured dialogue mechanism between the United States and Iran, with Switzerland serving as the neutral venue for technical discussions aimed at de-escalation.
