Two rockets reportedly hit the Russian embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus
According to AFP, two rockets hit the Russian embassy on Tuesday in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
It was reported that, the incident occurred while some pro-government supporters organized a rally outside the embassy.
Russia last month began striking targets in Syria. Although Russia
says it
has
attacked
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targets in
Syria
, the large majority of its military strikes have not been aimed at ISIL and instead targeted the moderate Syrian opposition and civilians.
U.S. State Department said: “Greater than 90% of the strikes that we've seen them take to date have not been against ISIL or al-Qaida-affiliated terrorists."
Meanwhile, NATO has called on Russia to stop attacking "Syrian opposition and civilians" and focus on fighting ISIL.
