23-year-old woman bitten by 60-centimeter-long nurse shark taken to hospital with dead fish attached to her arm
A woman was transported to a hospital with a dead shark attached to her arm after she was bitten Sunday afternoon at a beach in the United States.
The incident occurred in Boca Raton, Florida, on Sunday as a 60-centimeter-long nurse shark bit the woman's arm.
The shark had been killed prior to the Fire Department's arrival, but was still attached to her arm.
The unidentified 23-year-old woman was transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital in stable condition with the shark still attached to her arm.
Nurse sharks are generally not harmful but are known to bite to protect themselves from 'threats.'
They are common in Florida and may grow to up to 4 meters in length.
