Baykar's Piaggio Aerospace receives Turkish order for two Avanti planes

Piaggio Aerospace, the Italian aviation company now owned by Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar, has received its first aircraft order from Türkiye since the acquisition. The company announced it has secured an order for two P.180 Avanti EVO light transport aircraft from a Turkish customer, with the planes to be operated in both shuttle and ambulance configurations.

Aircraft Configuration and Capabilities

According to the company's statement, the aircraft will be specially configured to support dual missions of executive transport and air ambulance operations. This flexibility reflects growing demand for multi-role platforms in regional aviation markets. The P.180 Avanti EVO is known for its distinctive design and efficiency in the light transport category.

Company Leadership Perspective

Piaggio Aerospace CEO Giovanni Tomassini stated that "this order reinforces the strong international positioning of the Avanti EVO." He added that the company is "building a new future for Piaggio Aerospace thanks to the full support of the new owner, Baykar." The order represents a significant milestone in the Italian firm's revitalization under Turkish ownership.

Baykar's European Expansion

Baykar Technologies, renowned for producing the Bayraktar TB2, Akinci, and Kizilelma drones, finalized its acquisition of Piaggio Aerospace in June after initially purchasing the company in December. Beyond the Piaggio acquisition, Baykar has also established strategic partnerships with Leonardo, one of Europe's largest aerospace and defense companies. The two firms have created a joint venture called LBA Systems focused on developing next-generation unmanned systems.
