Turkish Aerospace Industries chief says Ankara shaping NATO's future security

Turkish Aerospace Industries CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu has said Türkiye is making a strategic contribution to NATO's future security architecture through its technology development capacity and defense industry cooperation. Speaking at a Chatham House event in London, Demiroğlu said the Turkish defense industry had become a strategic stakeholder in the emerging security architecture shaped by the "NATO 3.0" vision.

Production and Deterrence

Demiroğlu said production capacity and joint industrial projects are becoming key elements of collective deterrence. "Under the new security paradigm, security depends not only on military strength but also on a robust defense industry, sustainable manufacturing capacity and resilient supply chains," he said. He also stressed the importance of stronger transatlantic cooperation for European security.

Hürjet's Strategic Value

Demiroğlu said the planned export of the Hürjet advanced jet trainer to Spain represents more than a commercial achievement, calling it a strategic step strengthening Türkiye's position in the European and NATO defense ecosystem. He said cost-effective systems that can be produced rapidly are gaining importance alongside advanced platforms.
