Erdogan urges unity, brotherhood amid regional challenges

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for setting aside differences of origin, sect, and disposition to embrace unity and brotherhood during a painful period for the region. “The strongest line of resistance against those who try to turn brother against brother is to stand united like a wall,” he said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a powerful call for unity and brotherhood on Wednesday, addressing the ruling AK Party’s parliamentary group meeting amid escalating regional challenges. “Especially during this painful period our region is going through, we must set aside our differences of origin, disposition and sect, and embrace unity and elevate brotherhood,” Erdogan said. He stressed that the strongest defense against those who seek to pit brothers against one another is to “stand united like a wall.” He added that differences in political opinions and worldviews should not polarize society but rather be seen as values reflecting human and intellectual richness.
Language of brotherhood
Erdogan urged that beyond Türkiye’s borders, the language of brotherhood must be spoken and messages of peace delivered strongly. “Türkiye is carrying out this mission,” he said. He underlined that Türkiye makes no distinction between its brothers in the region—whether Kurds, Arabs, Turkmens, or Persians. He argued that Ankara’s effort to build a new security paradigm based on shared history and a shared future is not a policy to be criticized but one that should be appreciated, supported, and praised.
Warning against division
“Therefore, falling into the traps of those who want to carry out new operations in our region would be a betrayal of both our history and our future,” Erdogan warned. “No one can come between us and our brothers with whom we have lived on the same lands for a thousand years.” The president’s remarks come as the Middle East faces multiple crises: the US-Israel war with Iran, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza, and instability in Syria. Türkiye has positioned itself as a regional mediator and humanitarian aid provider.
